AAOIFI (the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions) is the international body that sets widely-followed Shariah standards for Islamic finance, including the rules for trading gold.

Its Shariah Standard No. 57 sets the conditions for gold to be traded in a compliant way: full ownership, immediate settlement, and possession. AAOIFI's Shariah board includes scholars from Pakistan and across the Muslim world.

In Pakistan: AAOIFI standards inform how Islamic banks and gold products are structured.

Example: a digital gold platform claiming Shariah compliance will often point to AAOIFI-aligned structuring.

Don't confuse it with: a national regulator — AAOIFI sets standards, it doesn't enforce law.
