Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must hold before Zakat becomes due. It is set at the value of 87.48 grams of gold, or 612.36 grams of silver.
If your net zakatable wealth stays above the Nisab for a full lunar year, you owe Zakat (2.5%). Because it is tied to the gold and silver price, the Nisab value in rupees moves with the market — which is why a "today's Nisab in PKR" figure is so useful.
In Pakistan: the silver-based Nisab is lower, so it captures more people; many scholars recommend using it.
Example: at about Rs 435,000 per tola (11.664g), the gold Nisab (87.48g, roughly 7.5 tola) is around Rs 3.26 lakh.
Don't confuse it with: Zakat itself — Nisab is the threshold; Zakat is the payment.
